How Do I Distract Myself From Sexual Urges?

Are sexual urges normal? Yes! Is sex a sin? No! But Why do we even want to fight for sexual purity when our desires seem so natural and good—and often feel too powerful to control? Because we know Jesus is better than Sex. Yes sex is amazing But it's nothing compared to the infinite pleasures we have in God.

God created sex, then told us to enjoy it only within the context of marriage between a man and a woman; so if He has us wait an excruciatingly long time for it, He is (mercifully) teaching us to meet our very deepest desires in Him alone. This easy to say but very hard to live....

However, we can have a smooth purity ride if we put a lot of things in place. We need to first of all realize that we can't do this purity thing on our own. We can't even boast of our own strength otherwise would have lost the battle a long time ago ( you don't want to learn from experience).

Focus on God's promises not your passions. Somedays, the flesh feels too strong to fight, we want to give in so bad but the truth is we put ourselves in that position. Nobody wakes up and just feel like sex...we must have been nursing some unhealthy thoughts. It could be getting involved in a sexual conversation with the opposite gender, listening to some mushy songs or the movies we watch...my question is "what are you feeding your mind?"

Don't flirt with the devil when you can resist him. A couple of times i've thought about giving up, i've cried out of sexual frustration but then knowing where i'm coming from, i will rather do it God's way.

This is one area most Christian singles are struggling with. I shared this in a group and i got the tip below!

"Sexual urges is a natural phenomenon. It could be triggered by Hormonal imbalances for example a woman on her menstral cycle. It comes natural. It could be also be triggered by things we expose ourselves to i.e. sexual videos or anything that could stimulate our sexual desires. The urges can't be avoided but shouldn't be fed upon i.e focusing our attention on it. And one thing is that it's only the grace of God that helps and the love we have for God which has to be a constant reminder that will help a single Christian avoid not falling for their sexual desires."

How do you control your sexual desires as a christian single BUT most importantly what are you feeding your mind?

We will love to read from you..

I Broke My Abstinence Vow...

I met Ade at some wedding...intelligent guy, witty and good looking, although I had known him for some time because we attended the same university, we barely talked because I thought he was full of himself. I noticed HE was staring at me a few times and each time I stared back at him, I felt a piercing in my heart. I liked the tingly feeling, no guy has had that effect on me in a while and it felt right. We exchanged contact details after the wedding and we soon began communicating often, he would send me the usual morning messages or stay up at night to chat with me since i only worked night shifts. Myself and Ade became closer and i didn't have a problem with it, he asked questions like someone with genuine intentions and i fancied every bit of our honest conversations (naked convos) I didn't have to say much to him because we graduated from the same University and he knew some of my bad girl gist (lol), i also knew a few things about him too so we just needed to do a bit of catching up. On the night of our supposed first date, he decided that we hang out with some of his friends (i wasn't totally cool with this but didn't complain). He received me well like the perfect gentleman, looked into my eyes and called me beautiful (of course i know i am but it felt nice hearing it from him). He remembered our first conversation at our University inside the school library and that totally blew my mind (seemed like he had been keeping close tabs on me..*yimu*), he said he liked me i told him i liked him too as I’m usually that open. Our date night was soon over as it was getting late and he dropped me at a friend’s place. We ended our night with a passionate kiss and then there was an interrupted power supply, soon I found myself in his house fighting temptation ...hmmmmm

There was a major challenge as Ade was sexually active. Although, I had been celibate for over one year, i didn't stop sleeping at his thinking i could fight the temptation or hoping he would just respect my opinion and stop asking me for sex someday. I guess a part of me just felt it wasn't a bad idea since we weren't having sex. One faithful night it happened, i broke my vow of abstinence.
Let me tell you about Ade,  He was a very good guy (or so I thought), he knew how to handle me when i misbehaved but he soon started acting funny, maybe in my head he was acting funny, although after that episode i began to see the real side of him (the side i really knew). I obviously liked him but i knew he wasn't the man for my faith. I felt very unsafe when i didn't hear from him but i still short changed myself. It was a sweet feeling but not totally healthy.

I can't explain the guilt i dealt with after this incident; i couldn't forgive myself let alone ask God for forgiveness. I couldn't pray, i felt dirty, soiled and even had the urge to stop talking about God. I confided in a few Christian friends that later advised me not to give up. I finally summoned the courage to ask God for forgiveness but trust me i don't ever want to deal with that guilt i felt again. I started to tell myself the truth which was that i liked Ade but couldn't be in a relationship with him. I know a lot of Christian singles can relate to this story. I've had a few people ask me how to handle issues like this but i'll just like to tell anyone reading this that "Nothing is worth giving up your Godly standards for" There's nothing comfortable about our Christian race but with God on our side we will make it! We need to constantly ask for God's help because we can’t do it on our own. Many times in relationships, we find ourselves stooping down to reach others’ standards. We sacrifice the little of we have just to meet others halfway. This usually happens to women when we meet or date someone whom we think might be a little intimidated by us, we do not show our true potential in fear that we might scare him away. Sometimes, we have to forget our own needs to give way in relationships. Women are creatures capable of loving so much that they are willing to sacrifice their own happiness and needs for the sake of those in need. And that’s not always a good thing. Problem is it sometimes comes to a point when we obliviously sell ourselves short, we forget our value, we neglect our own needs, and we sacrifice way too much. If a relationship is asking you to sacrifice your dignity and values, it is time to walk away from that relationship.
We all feel unworthy at one point in our lives. Every morning, the enemy whisper lies in our hearts: You are ugly, You are sinful, you are not worthy of God’s grace. The truth is you have not been diminished in the eyes of God. It's understandable you feel guilty; you made a promise and you broke it but if you have asked God for forgiveness, you can be sure He has forgiven you, maybe even before you asked. Talking to your friend would probably be helpful, if they aren't going to be judgmental and will talk it out with you. You aren't damaged goods or any of that nonsense, try to remember that. God forgives you, remember what Jesus said to the woman caught in adultery, "Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more". You have a repentant heart and that's the biggest thing, just do your best from here on out. It will get better, especially once you realize that God loves you and will always forgive you. Peace and love.
"Safeguard your soul, Guard your heart and protect yourself."
Are you stuck in a similar relationship chaos? Do you need help or do you have any story to share with us that can help others?
To be continued...Feel free to leave comments.

Living Free....

Freedom from sin does not equal a perfect record, I’m coming to understand.

I’m going on 2years of being on the run from sexual immorality. When I say that I mean that I’ve been free from past habits that I’d been trapped in for the majority of my life. I’ve had one major hiccup & two over the board acts. One when I got closer to an old friend and  the other when I started liking some good guy..someone I should have turned away from. Everything happened at a time when i was starving my inner man.

What am I doing? I thought, Am I really going to step back into this when I’ve been so wonderfully out for so long?

I decided, no, i have to put an end to it.

Here’s where I saw the freedom: I wouldn't let either of those failings drag me back into the usual cycle. I know where i'm coming from and it's not a very pleasant lifestyle.

On a good day, my failing or allow me to say my falling would have triggered my surrender to my flesh, and to the idea that I can’t ever get it right and be free from lust. I remember sending a message to my friend saying "maybe i'm not a good girl afterall" I almost gave up and and the whole process would begin anew.

Why? Because I believed that if I can’t do it perfectly, if I mess up once then I’ve ruined the purity streak and might as well indulge.

Now I see that even though I’ve messed up twice or more I’m still living in freedom. I wouldn't let those failures get in the way of saying no now. It’s not about keeping a perfect record. It’s about choosing grace this very moment.

I say no to the cycle. It doesn’t line up with the Gospel, or with God’s grace. What I’ve got now is much better and it’s truth. If I stumble it doesn’t send me back to the starting line, so I shouldn’t immediately go back to it. I should get up, right where I am and press on toward the prize.

Also, I want to say to those who are also struggling. I’m still tempted, but honestly the less you indulge the easier it gets and the less frequent the temptation. A HUGE part of this is saying no to watching or listening to things that make your mind want to go there. Avoid perversive conversations...yea..we are saved but sometimes we get carried away and we start to discuss things that are not edifying with the opposite sex or maybe fridnds.

Like, last night I said I didn’t want to watch a certain movie because I knew there was sex in it though I couldn’t remember how much. If I’d seen it I knew it would make the temptation to fantasize more difficult so I said no.

keep going! Abstaining gets easier with time! As long as you remember that it's about honoring God with your body.

Smile...Jesus Loves you

No Man Can Make You Happy

Have you been wondering Why your boyfriend doesn’t just get you? Have you been trying to figure out why your husband or boyfriend of several years can't make your happy? Well, the truth is: No man can make you happy. And I’m not sure God ever designed men to.
That’s because happiness is based on circumstances. Yet circumstances are the one part of our lives over which we have virtually no control. Since we can’t control circumstances, pursuing happiness means constantly scanning our surroundings to see if they make us happy. And as soon as we start doing that, we will find all the reasons why our circumstances don’t measure up.
God never intended us to be passive. He made us to actively engage this world and to shine in it. So perhaps we need another route to happiness in marriage or our relationships—one that is far more likely to get us to the finish line. And it starts with fixing our own hearts.

Pursue Joy

I think of happiness as quite distinct from joy or contentment. Joy looks upward, contentment looks inward, and happiness looks outward. Joy says, “How great is our God!” Contentment says, “It is well with my soul.” And happiness says, “All things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.” But you can’t appreciate what’s outside of you until you’re at peace with what’s inside. And that requires focusing on God first.
Psalm 37:4 : “Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart”. This doesn’t mean that when we delight ourselves in God he gives us everything we want; it means that when we delight ourselves in God, he actually changes what we want. We start looking with gratitude at what God has done for us.

Take Responsibility for Your Own Happiness

Sometimes nothing changes except  we work on our attitude. We need to Run after God!
Women! jump on the Joy track and start looking for ways to bring God into your daily life. You can start to conversationally pray “without ceasing.” Turn to Scripture not to fix her problems but just to see Jesus.
We need to understand first of all that  Our happiness is a gift to the people we cherish...husband..kids... When we pursue joy and find happiness, we no longer rely on 'man" to make us happy. When we look to God first, we free our husbands or loved ones  to be who God made them to be, not who we want them to be. And that changes the whole dynamic in the relationship.

Deal with Sin

Jesus wants to bring wholeness to our lives, relationships and our marriages, and that wholeness can only come when we deal with our issues honestly.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God” (Matthew 5:9, NIV). We’re to make peace, not just keep peace. And in some marriages, too many keep peace. A lot of us (women) are so afraid of conflict that we try to keep issues from reaching the surface. peace we need to know isn't the absence of conflict (1 Corinthians 1:10). Real peace only comes when we stop hiding from reality and we bring our mess to God—even if that means rocking the boat.
Jesus gives us a different route to happiness. We are not to aim for happiness; but to aim for him instead. That’s not passively waiting for someone to make our life better; it’s actively pursuing God’s best for us, for our husbands, and for our marriage. Even if it’s hard.
Matthew 6:33 makes it clear enough that when we seek God first, every other thing will be added unto us. And so we need to keep running after Jesus because that’s the only way we can really experience any man's love.

cheers...

MORE THAN SEX!

There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.” Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.” There is a sense in which sexual sins are different from all others. In sexual sin we violate the sacredness of our own bodies, these bodies that were made for God-given and God-modeled love, for “becoming one” with another. Or didn’t you realize that your body is a sacred place, the place of the Holy Spirit? Don’t you see that you can’t live however you please, squandering what God paid such a high price for? The physical part of you is not some piece of property belonging to the spiritual part of you. God owns the whole works. So let people see God in and through your body.

If his tummy is paining him...please give him felvin đŸ‘¿đŸ‘¿đŸ˜ˆđŸ‘¿
Most importantly......don't lead him on...its difficult!! Yes!! Sometimes you will get horngry but remember you're doing it for God!
If he truly cares about you....he will wait!

I want to abstain from Sex but He doesn't

A lot of Christian women are deciding to abstain from sex until marriage for many reasons. The problem comes in when trying to date men who are accustomed to having sex while in a relationship.

I have decided to start dating again while i maintain living by God's principle to save sex for marriage but i keep meeting men who are Christians but don't want to live by God's principles about sex. I think it's more difficult knowing I'm not a virgin but i believe a man will wait for anything or anyone he feels is worth it. There is a shift happening now and because of the state of relationships people are becoming more thoughtful about their actions.
Never compromise your beliefs to please a man...actually it's more like Never compromise your relationship with God to please a man.The man who is for you will respect you and will wait for you.
I recommend doing it God's way. That's where the blessings are and less stress is there. Some women say they have sex because they want to. No, you're having sex because you've been conditioned and programmed to have sex to keep and to please a man. So you give a boyfriend the benefits of a husband and claim that it's all your idea.
If a man leaves you for having standards, let him leave. If a man can't see the bigger picture, he's still a grown boy and will probably cause you more pain and stress than peace and happiness.Has marriage worked even when the couple had sex while dating? Yes! Does that mean it's right? No! Sex keeps no man!!
I started talking to someone recently, he had some of the qualities of what i wanted in my man but he definitely can't wait or isn't willing to wait.
Build your relationship on friendship, not sex. If sex couldn't be part of your relationship, would it still work? If one of you had a stroke and couldn't have sex anymore, would there still be love? If one of you has a surgery or is hospitalized and you couldn't have sex, would there be infidelity? A lot of men even cheat on their woman while she's pregnant. That's because the relationship was built on lust and sex, not love and friendship. So my message to you is; if your legs are closed, keep them closed. If your legs are open, close them.
Do something out of the norm and build a relationship on friendship. Let the lust build and fulfill it when you give the woman a commitment until death do you part. Be the man and take the lead; and lead with love. Let it be your idea to wait until marriage for sex instead of being forced into it by her. You won't die without having sex. What you will gain is self-control, self-respect, focus, will-power, determination, strength, and so much more.

Challenge yourself and Grow through it because you're worth the wait.

Cheers...

#Christiansingles-Dealing with Sexual Desires

Issues such as sex are not often discussed in churches today but i feel we need to shed more light in that angle. I am personally confused as a Christian single lady that's tasted sex before and now that I've decided to honor God with my body it feels tougher. I've been celibate for over one year and it's not like i desire sex but dealing with people that desire sex is my struggle.
Recently, i almost got carried away and the devil sent me on a guilt trip for hours. I wasn't myself because i got physically intimate with someone i was attracted to. It is true that our desire for sex and sexual/physical intimacy is evidence of our need to connect.  We are relational beings, who even by the nature of our physiological makeup, are created to be in connection with other human beings.
As Christians how do we handle them when we have no means of expressing them as an unmarried individual?  How do we allow these desires to point us to Jesus, rather than keep us away?
I've come to realize that dealing with sexual desires is something we will face at many points in our single life but learning to deal with these desires in a healthy and God-honoring way is a discipline that will last us in a healthy married life.
if you're like me that's made a decision to honor God my body, Here are some steps as seen on truelovedates.com that we can take, as we seek to honor God with these overwhelming desires?

First, we must allow our desires to bring us in CONNECTION WITH GOD. What I mean by this is that so many times we are wired to run from God in guilt, fear, and shame when we are struggling with our sexual desires. This is the devil's plan so find whatever way you can to connect to God. Worship, pray, study the word. Do anything that would bring you back to Jesus.

Secondly, it is important we CONNECT WITH OTHERS.  There are times when the gravity of our sexual desire correlates with the state of our emotional needs.  We need to feel loved, accepted, and to belong.  Sex in marriage offers all of those things within the context of a life-long companion.  But for those who are unmarried, those very needs can begin to be met outside of a sexual relationship- in the embrace of a friend or the comforting words of a loving mentor.  God can use all kinds of people to fill our deep emotional needs for connection.  But we have to be aware of the connection, and then take action by engaging in meaningful non-sexual relationships.

Thirdly, we can CONNECT TO THE WORLD around us. channel your anger!  I believe that we can also channel our sexual desires by focusing our time, our energy, and our efforts on things that are meaningful and purposeful.  What is it that excites you?   What are the things that your heart deeply connects with?  What causes do you feel are most important in this world?  Use your energies to make a difference in the world around you. I think Paul was referring to just that when he explained that greater than sexual connection, is the ability to serve God in a focused and undistracted way.  Unlike Paul,  we may not all have the life-calling of a celibacy, but we do have a calling toward meaning, toward purpose, and toward a fulfilling life.  Use this time in your life to focus your energies on things that matter and the pursuit of your passions- and I believe it will bring you one step closer to getting a healthy perspective on your sexual desires.

Finally, PROTECT.
Not only are we called to connect, but we are called to protect this God-given gift that we’ve been given.  You can have the greatest intentions in the world, coupled with the strongest desire to do right- but if you don’t have a plan, you’re not going to be able to get to where you want to be. We need to make a practical plan that will challenge you to take the necessary steps to both being freed from sexual sin, as well as protecting yourself from sexual struggles.

May God give us the wisdom and the grace to realize that He has got our best interest in mind…and He always has.  May we find the courage and strength to choose to do things His way, because His way will always be our best.
Make sure you share this with someone..

Love,
Divnediva

Adultery is a choice, not a mistake.

Scandal, Being Mary Jane, Love & Hip Hop, House Wives of (here, there and everywhere)…most of us have seen one or all of these shows before. Television programs now advertise and broadcast ADULTERY as the next best thing as slice bread. Ok, who still says that? But seriously, where is our integrity? We lack self-control. We have allowed our flesh to take full control of our decision making. We don’t consider the hurt and pain our poor choices will cause our loved ones. Adultery is a selfish act. We want what we want and will do whatever to get it and don’t care who we hurt, step on and over to get it. Adultery is a choice never a mistake.

Those shows, especially Scandal and Being Mary Jane, portray a single, successful woman, who appears to have it all but have nothing, yet find themselves having an affair with a married man. What is lacking in the life of this woman that she can be” fulfilled” in every area of her life EXCEPT her relationships? What makes a woman so desperate that she can be OK with laying with someone’s husband, knowingly without any remorse? Could it be loneliness, a desire to be needed, baggage from previous relationships, her father not being present or involved in her life, greed, what is it?

What would cause a man to broke his vows to his wife, “forsaken all others”? Could it be the excitement of the forbidden or the thought I won’t get caught so why not, my needs are not being met at home, I’m just not happy anymore? But how did we get to that unhappy place?

The sad part is the scenario doesn’t change; it’s a never ending cycle. He’s married…cheats with the other woman…decides to leave and divorce his wife…marries the other woman. My question is what makes the other woman so special that she believes he won’t cheat on her, leave and divorce her just like he did with his first wife? For the husband, it’s something in him that needs to be dealt with at the root.

Truthfully, we have gone so far away from God so much so we have totally gone our own way. We don’t consult with God about anything anymore, we just think and do. We try to hide what God already knows about us. Dear You: It’s time to be real with God so that He can deal with your stuff, your brokenness, your unforgiveness, your loneliness that has caused you to do some desperate things. God is good, able and willing. Receive Him today!

How far is too far before marriage?

Although I got a lot of things wrong when I was dating, I had one general policy I still do not regret: I felt it was best to keep my hands off the women I dated.

It’s not that I didn’t want to get physical with my dates. I just didn’t want to create all kinds of connections that would give false momentum to a relationship that might not be going anywhere. And frankly, most of my relationships only lasted a couple of dates or a few months. So the chances seemed pretty high that getting physical would either unnaturally prolong relationships or make it really awkward when I saw a woman after a breakup.

I didn't always abide by this policy, but I’m glad I did most of the time, and here’s why: Every woman I ever dated ended up getting married to another man. Some of these couples I only see on Facebook these days, but there are plenty of others whom I still see in person. In fact, I’m actually friends with the husbands of several of the women I dated.

Those men do not have to wonder what I know about their wife’s body, because I don’t really know anything. I mean, sometimes it’s awkward enough that I dated their wife — how much more awkward would it be for that man to know I had gotten physical with his wife at some point?

I realize there are some folks who have been dating for much longer or who are engaged and feel like it’s probably OK to get somewhat physical before marriage. I mean, many of our non-Christian friends take sex as a given in dating. So we figure that it can’t hurt a Christian couple to explore a little bit without having sex.

You know, I might agree if I had actually met a couple who could successfully put the brakes on before things started to get out of hand, but after all these years, I still haven’t. The thing is, whether it’s kissing or groping or removing an article of clothing, it’s all foreplay. And once that party gets started, your hormones don’t hear your conscience’s weakened efforts to remind you about honoring God with your body. So yeah, it makes sense in theory, but in practice, it’s practically impossible.

The Struggle for My Wife and Me

My wife and I had a short dating relationship, and our engagement only lasted five months. Thank God, because we certainly had a strong physical attraction to each other, and every time we were alone, temptation was often right there with us.

I still remember the premarital counseling session with our pastor, Mark Booker, when he asked us whether we were walking in physical purity. I said something like, “Well, we’re struggling a little bit.”

Mark said, “Yeah, that’s what you said in the last two times we met. You know, I’m just gonna come right out and say it: You two need to completely discontinue all physical contact until your wedding day.”

We were taken aback – I mean, we weren’t completely out of control (yet). But we knew he was right. We wanted to honor God and each other before marriage, and it wasn’t helping anything for us to see how far we could go without feeling too guilty.

Where the Line Is

If you’re looking for some bright line rule for how far is too far before marriage, you’re going be disappointed. Other than the absolute prohibition on sex before marriage, the Bible only tells us that lust is a sin and that we should “flee youthful passions” (2 Timothy 2:22,Matthew 5:28, Job 31:11-12). However, this much is safe to say: Sexual desire, which is a good thing, is like hunger — it is meant to be satisfied. But just as a healthy diet requires restraint, so does a healthy sex life.

Sexual passion is like partaking of a feast, and love-making is the tantalizing entrĂ©e that is only to be eaten after marriage. I suppose you could stand on the sidelines and sample the hors d’ oeuvres as you dream about having a full meal. But if you've been fasting for several years, please understand that there’s a very good chance you’re not going to be able to stop until you've had your fill. And for most people, that means consuming the entree before the dinner bell has actually rung, so perhaps it would be wiser to simply stay out of the dining room until then.

I know self-restraint isn't a popular virtue to cultivate. But nonetheless, it’s a gift to your future marriage, and in the context of dating, it is a gift you may very well give to someone else’s marriage as well.

LOVE IS PATIENT - Funto & Akinade

PowerCouple
In December 2001- Camp Joseph, organized by YDi-Young Disciples International. (God bless Christian Mothers)! Gaise had a supernatural encounter with God and got into what is known in YDi as Covenant of Purity (COP) and that was how he began saving himself for marriage. He made the decision so as to Honor God with his body.
Then he met a lady who had made the same decision elsewhere. Their Love story is a unique one but this post is specifically to encourage everyone that's waiting till the deal day.
God's purpose for marriage is definitely beyond physical intimacy.
Isn't she lovely?

Funto is an unashamed Lady after Christ, an Accounting graduate from Covenant University. She got married to Akinade Ibuoye, popularly known as "Gaisebaba" who studied Economics at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife and a Nigerian based energetic, afro fusion Gospel artist on the 23rd of Novemer 2014.
To Funto "Marriage is the Union of two imperfect people sustained by one perfect Savior".

THEIR STORY
Gaise met Funto on the 20th of October 2012 at a Steve Harris seminar tagged  ‘Business of Your Talent’.He was aparticipant while Funto was a volunteer worker at the registration desk. Gaise noticed how bubbly and beautiful at first contact and he ensured he got her BBM pin that day.
Conversation commenced, then Chemistry but they both had to WAIT because they had just gotten out of a bad relationship.
The next six month wasn't a smooth one for them because Gaise wanted to make sure he was getting it right. They deleted themselves on bbm and even unfollowed on twitter all in the name of WAITING..hmm
Real Men Pray!
They defined their relationship in July 2013 and like every other couple had a lot of personal issues to deal with,,*awwww*
Overtime their relationship began to blossom and they learnt how to deal with their differences. They could have given up at several points but they didn’t; we worked at it and made sure it worked out. It was a collective effort.
cute..picture curled from #Bellanaija
Gaise finally proposed to Funto on the 12th of February 2014, He made an artwork of her, got a bouquet of flowers and of course the engagement ring and went to her office where he popped the question.
Funto's 25th birthday
Godliness is not an excuse not to be romantic, we think Gaise nailed it!!
